IT'S A GIRL! Miss Kalli Reese Flinchum

She's here!!!  Finally!  I have a daughter!  Kalli Reese Flinchum was born on March 16, 2011 at 9:47 am.  She weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long!  She is perfect in every way!  Her big brother still doesn't know what to think about her, but he is interested in what she is doing...if she is awake! :-)

THE DELIVERY:
Friday, March 11th I had lots of different pains and pressures all day, but it seemed to get worse as the day progressed.  Chip, Kade and I went to Mexican for dinner (go figure) and I called the nurse on call to ask her what she thought.  After it continued to get worse, she suggested we go to the ER to get checked out.  After a surprise visit from my OB (he was a the Duke game and came as soon as it was over), he decided that I was still just dialated to 2 and that the pain and pressure were normal and that I should be able to see him next week in his office.  Saturday was a good day, until that evening when the pain and pressure started again.  All day Sunday I had contractions, sometimes 3-4 minutes apart.  We talked to Dr Taavon again and he said to see if they stayed consistent and if they got even more painful!  Since they lighted up, I waited until Monday morning to call him at his office.  I had stopped my Lovenox (blood thinners) Saturday because of all of the contractions.  The office said he wanted me to come in and after a LONG appointment and the most painful amniocentesis ever, we were sent home to rest.  Tuesday we received the results that Kalli's lungs were developed and Dr Taavon wanted us to be at the hospital at 7:30 that evening for our induction.  We got to the hospital and the nurse started me on a high dose of pitocin...then called Dr Taavon who asked her to stop the pitocin and put me on Cervidil until morning.  I was having consistent contractions at this point and at about 1:45 I got an epidural to help me sleep.  Too bad that didn't work!  I didn't sleep one wink that night!  At 8 am, my nurse Catherine started pitocin again, but a low dose.  I did my make-up and was ready to get the show on the road...little did I know!!!  At 8:50, Dr Taavon came in and checked me and I was only dialated to 4 (I was still a 2 the night prior when I checked in).  He broke my water and said that he expected me to deliver by 2 or so.  At about 9:15, I was feeling quite a bit of pressure!  Chip and Lynda had gone to the car to get Kalli's baby book for her footprints.   I had mom call them to tell them to hurry back...but no one believed I was actually feeling real pressure!  I told Catherine, who said she would check me again at 9:30, but by 9:26 I couldn't take it anymore...she checked me and I was already at a 10!  She called Dr Taavon who told her to have me push for a contraction and see how I was going to do.  Apparently I did well because she told him to hurry back!  LOL!  I started pushing about 9:33 and had to breath through about 5 contractions waiting for him to get there!  Dr Taavon arrived back at about 9:44 and Miss Kalli was born at 9:47 am!  I only pushed through 2 contractions with her!!!  AMAZING!  I was so shocked how quickly she came!!!

Chip and I are very blessed with a perfect little boy and now a perfect little girl!  We wouldn't love these babies any more!  They have completed our family and brought us love and joy we have never known!  Kade Jaxon Flinchum 3.3.10 and Kalli Reese Flinchum 3.16.11, MaMa and DaDa love you!!! LYMI!
