THE BEGINNING OF THE REST OF MY LIFE...
I decided to create a blog mostly for me to be able to remember the days that I am enjoying with my precious new baby boy! I am a proud new Mommy to a beautiful little boy named Kade Jaxon Flinchum. He was born 3/3/10 at 5:08 and weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces. Here is my reaction the first time I held my precious baby in my arms!

HOW WE GOT TO THIS POINT...
It was a long journey to get us to where we are now. We tried to get pregnant for 3 1/2 years before little Kademan was born. We had 4 miscarriages all at about 5-6 weeks pregnant before this pregnancy. We were seeing a fertility specialist and had an appointment set up for IVF the month after we got pregnant. All of that seems like ancient history now though! Now my life seems so complete! I have a wonderful husband who has been such great help with Kade, even with dirty diapers! :) For those of you who don't know Chip that well, he had never changed a diaper before Kade. Here is a picture of my 2 favorite boys!!!

PREGNANCY & DELIVERY...
I had a rather "easy" pregnancy, all things considered AND an easy delivery! Since we were a high risk pregnancy, we had lots of ultrasounds and the doctors took great care of us. I did have to give myself a shot of Lovenox, which is a blood thinner every day though. I thought that would be hard, but it was actually not that bad at all. We went into preterm labor at 34 weeks and was on bedrest for about a week and a half. At 37 weeks, we had an amniocentesis to check his lung development. The amnio came back that his lungs were NOT developed, so they gave me a shot of steriods to develop them more quickly. Kade was born at 37 1/2 weeks and was perfectly healthy (lungs and all). The delivery itself was so much better than I had expected. I had an AMAZING nurse who helped ease all my pain and kept me comfortable! Of course the epidural helped too! :) I went in at 6:15 that morning and delivered Kade at 5:08. I only pushed for a little over 20 minutes! I WAS VERY LUCKY!! :)

Kade right before he got to come home!
I can't wait to read about all your new experiences. It makes my heart smile that you and Chip will get to experience everything Charlie and I have for the last 15 months. We both had a hard road to get here, but now it just seems like it was all so long ago. XOXO
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your blog, it came out very nice. I can't wait to read about all the journeys that you, Chip, and Kade go through. I am so happy for the both of you. You have such a beautiful family!
